Mooo – Arrival to Madison

Glad to say that the travel day today went without a hitch.  We left a very empty Boston Logan International Airport today, stopping over in Milwaukee.  Not a single problem or snag with Midwest Airlines – everyone from the airline was very nice, especially with handling the bikes.
Preparation is key, so I put as many BU Cycling stickers on bags as possible.

Aj (Wentworth) was on the same flights as us, so he tagged along.  We’re walking on our way to Au Bon Pan for some pre-flight fuel.

Natan likes to take a holistic approach to his “premed” degree.

Now this was something that I’ve never seen before: Direct TV on a plane.  Granted you had to pay for it after a certain point.  I watched the Phills game for a little while.  It was 2-0 Philly last I saw it.  Who knows what happened; I can’t check since the MSN airport (where I’m writing this) has pay-to-use wireless.

Blurry, but yes: “I can see my house from here!”

Just an illustration of how tiny this plane really was.

Waiting for the car

Hmm…Doesn’t quite fit.  We had to make two trips but we got it all to the lovely Madison Concourse Hotel.

Rae had dropped off some personalized goodies for Kim, Natan, and I with instructions not to open until Wisconsin.  Well, we opened it and here’s what we got.  Sweet Delicious Cookies!

We pre-drove the downtown crit course this evening.  It’s literally a block away from our hotel and absolutely picturesque … and fast.  A super-large number of us ECCCers are off to Blue Mountain tomorrow at 1 pm to go pre-ride the RR course and see what kind of roads and pain we are going to be up against.  I got a lot of requests for cheese – the total requested amount of which I’m pretty sure I’d have to hire a small Columbian drug cartel to ship – but I’ll see what I can do.
